Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. Who We Are
aristo-pets.com is operated by Letras Binárias, based in Portugal. For privacy matters, contact us at [email protected].
2. What Data We Collect
When you place a pet on the map, we collect: your name, email address, pet information (name, breed, bio, species), pet photos, approximate location (city/country and map coordinates), and optional social links (Instagram, website). We also process payment data through Stripe — we do not store your card details.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: display your pet on the world map and profile page; send transactional emails (payment confirmation, welcome email, edit link recovery); process your payment via Stripe; and improve the Service. Your email is never displayed publicly.
4. Legal Basis (GDPR)
We process your data based on: contract performance (to provide the Service you paid for); legitimate interest (to improve and secure the Service); and your consent (for optional marketing, if we implement it in the future — you can withdraw consent at any time).
5. What's Public
The following data is publicly visible on the map and pet profile: pet name, species, breed, bio, photos, approximate location (city/country), and optional Instagram/website links. Your name and email are never shown publicly.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data: Stripe (payment processing, see stripe.com/privacy); SendGrid (transactional email delivery, see twilio.com/legal/privacy); Amazon Web Services S3 (image hosting); OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (location search — no personal data is sent, only search queries).
7. Data Retention
Your pet profile and associated data are stored for as long as the Service is operational ("forever" is our intent). If you want your data deleted, contact us at [email protected] and we will remove your pet profile and all associated data within 30 days.
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, you have the right to: access your personal data; rectify inaccurate data (via your edit link or by contacting us); erase your data ("right to be forgotten"); restrict or object to processing; data portability (receive your data in a structured format); and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (CNPD in Portugal).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].
9. Cookies
We use only essential cookies required for the Service to function (session management). We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. No cookie consent banner is required because we only use strictly necessary cookies.
10. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures: encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure payment processing (Stripe PCI-DSS), and access-controlled data storage. However, no system is 100% secure.
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
12. International Transfers
Your data may be processed outside the EEA (e.g., AWS servers, Stripe, SendGrid). We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via email when possible. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
